Plymouth’s Dream Ride Rally Donates 89 Bikes

After completing a week long 600 mile bicycle ride from Washington D.C. to Plymouth, MA, organizers and community members came out to support their school system for an afternoon of activities. The Plymouth community also donated 89 bikes to help other school systems in Botswana, providing students with mobility, thereby reducing their daily school commutes – this meaningful contribution will save several miles per student each day. (See Community Section for links and photos)

Bicycles being distributed to kids in Africa

Bicycles being presented at the Lesilakgokong village and Kubung primary school for local kids. David Lebalelo has done a great job organizing these events and collaborating with BIRRO and the Ministry of Transportation and Communication to get kids on bikes.
David: “Not only will the bikes provide mobility but also develop the interest of cycling as a sport to disadvantaged communities in the country. These kids walk long distance to and from school. It will provide mobility to and from schools. These kids have right to education too, they hardly go to school because of the distance. Close monitoring will be done to make sure that the bikes are always in good condition.”

B LOVE

Bicycles for Humanity is a global grassroots movement that provides the gift of mobility delivered by a bicycle to many in developing countries.

B HOPE

A bicycle solves the problem of mobility and helps empower people to change their life. The mobility a bicycle provides allows people to travel greater distances in a shorter length of time and transport much more weight. Mothers can carry containers of water back to their village in a fraction of the time walking requires. Students get to school faster saving precious daylight for studies. Parents transport more items to market to sell. Healthcare workers are 3 to 4 times more productive.

B CHANGE

B4H Chapters collect bicycles and ships them to community based organizations in developing countries. Bicycles are delivered in shipping containers that remain in the country and become community bicycle workshops called Bicycle Empowerment Centres. 100% of all donations are used to get bikes into the hands of those who need them.
